Amseena, Ritz Carlton:

The United Arab Emirates cuisine is a reflection of a great Arabian heritage and vast exposure to civilizations over time. Ritz Carton’s Amseena celebrates this beautifully. Private bedouin tents cluster across the lawn creating a luxurious village-like feel. A duo on the oud and tabla, croons out traditional Arabic melodies, with the promise of a Belly Dancer a little later in the evening to help raise temperatures. You can enjoy some of Amseena’s 20 flavours of sheesha as you relax to the sound of the soft ocean waves rolling on to the beach just beyond.  The restaurant is simply gorgeous and the perfect place for a lovely Arabian night.

Chef Rami Almaket, believes you should bring an appetite and is delighted to personally walk you through the classic regional Arabic buffet, starting with fattoush, salads, moutabal, felafal, hummus and leading to the freshly grilled lobsters, prawns and salmon beside highly recommending the lamb chops that are prepared before your eyes.

We began with an assortment of hummus, salads and babaghanouj. Chef Rami himself delivered hot, fresh bread from the wood-fire oven and hot mezzeh of falafel and cheesy kebeh for our first course.I love my meats and if you are non-vegetarian, you cannot leave Dubai without sampling Arabic meat! We went with our server’s recommendation of the mixed grilled platter with lamb chops, chicken, beef, fish and some of the best grilled prawns I’ve ever eaten.

Even though it was extremely filling, the desserts beckoned. If you get to this lovely restaurant, do try the baklava (sweet pastry made of layers of filo dough), and traditional Egyptian Um Ali (a type of bread pudding topped with sweetened milk). Pair it with some Moroccan mint tea for extra warmth!

Prices vary from AED 125 to 365 per head depending on the night of the week and the menu inclusions.
